Volunteering at Black Rhino Academy in Karatu, Tanzania is meant to be a meaningful experience for both the volunteer as well as students and staff. Since the teaching team in Karatu is entirely Tanzanian, Black Rhino is always in need of experienced teachers who are interested in mentoring teachers in and outside of the classroom.

Black Rhino Academy also accept volunteers who are not qualified teacher but have a passion for children and want to gain insight into the classroom. Volunteer activities depend on the background of each volunteers. As a Black Rhino Academy volunteer you will have the opportunity to enrich the lives of students with whatever background and interests you have.

Volunteers have come to play sports with our boarding kids after school, teach Taekwondo within our PE lessons, reorganise the library, teach about their own cultures and generally help our teachers with classroom activities. Volunteers who are qualified teacher are also asked to get involved in professional development with teachers.
